Road resurfacing under way in Mouille Point, District Six, Observatory, Epping Industrial and Woodstock

The City of Cape Town is revitalising key transport corridors with a comprehensive road resurfacing programme now under way in Mouille Point, District Six, Woodstock, Observatory, and Epping Industrial. This investment in our urban infrastructure aims to ensure safer, more durable surfaces for all road users. To fast-track completion, crews will be on-site Monday through Saturday, 07:00 to 17:00, until Tuesday, 30 June 2026, provided there are no unforeseen circumstances. Occasional night shifts are also scheduled to keep progress on track.

By investing in the longevity and quality of our road surfaces today, we are ensuring a safer, more seamless travel experience for thousands of commuters, residents and businesses. These projects are more than just fresh asphalt; they are about the City’s proactive drive to maintain a world-class transport network and, ultimately, to keep Cape Town moving,’ said the City’s Mayoral Committee Member for Urban Mobility, Councillor Rob Quintas.

The resurfacing of roads will take place as follows:

Mouille Point along Beach Road.
District Six along Constitution Street and Keizergracht Road.
Woodstock along Chester Road, Worcester Road, Upper Melbourne Road and Mountain Road.
Observatory along Lower Main Road.
Epping Industrial along Gunners Circle.

All road markings will be reinstated with retroreflective road marking paint. Residents and business owners can expect some noise during this time.
